While I do agree that something has to be done about high school football programs playing in dangerous heat, there is something about the sport that comes with the warning: summers will be hell. Football is tough. And so is practice. Add in your crazy coach and you know practice is never going to get cancelled. It’s an integral part of football culture. Playing through the sweltering heat with your teammates. Coming out of football camp gives you a right to flaunt your survival.
So I personally get a kick out of it when I hear stories like the one above. Sure, Lucas might know there’s a heat warning that day, but Coach Fit is one step ahead of him.
